HELPING WILDLIFE
I FOUND AN ANIMAL, I NEED HELP!
AWARE offers basic information about how to stabilize a wild animal or wildlife situation until more help is acquired. In Georgia, it is against the law to keep or rehabilitate any wild animal unless you are properly licensed. Regardless of information found on the internet or in other resources, care of a wild animal by an inexperienced person can do more harm than good.
FIND A REHABBER
Anytime you have an animal that needs help and AWARE is either unable to help or too far away to be convenient, you can consult the list below. The list is taken from data published by Georgia DNR. Like us, the volunteer rehabilitators on it cannot always help everyone all the time.
TIPS FOR PEACEFUL HUMAN-WILDLIFE COEXISTENCE
We are strong believers that wild animals are rarely a threat to humans, especially in urban environments. We've put together resources for you to learn how to best coexist with wild animals. There are tips for children, people, property, pets, and your home.
EVENTS
We have educational and fundraising events for everyone. In the past, we've hosted 5Ks, Wine tastings, Art Auctions, Movie Screenings, Junior Ranger Days, Owlween, and Family Fun.
