Internships at AWARE

AWARE offers a variety of internships to assist with various aspects of our mission of wildlife rehabilitation and education. The Rehab Internship is open to new applicants from the public, while all others require some previous experience at AWARE. For all interns, we are looking for someone who does the following:

  • Trustworthy and maintains integrity
  • Efficient and productive
  • Accepts and applies feedback well
  • Maintains strong focus and attention to detail

Open to anyone:

  • Rehab - care for injured and orphaned wild patients. (This is our only internship open to people regardless of whether they have previous experience at AWARE.)

Open to applicants with prior AWARE experience

  • Medical - advanced care and medical treatment for injured and orphaned wild patients.
  • Triage - intakes and initial care for wild patients.
  • Comms - help the public with wildlife questions and care for potential patients (remote position).
  • Ambassador Handler - care for permanent resident ambassador animals.
  • Programs - deliver wildlife education programs to the public.
  • Enrichment & Habitat Design (EHD) - design and create new and improved enrichment and enclosures for patients.
